Visiting Miami Art Museum (MAM)

Visiting Miami Art Museum (MAM) located in Downtown Miami, Florida.
When visiting on August 2, 2011, My friends from CCI Program and I were surprised by the art displays from various artist at that museum. At the entrance of MAM's new exhibit, a work called “I Wish Your Wish, 2003” by Rivane Neuenschwander, fills the walls with lots of colorful rainbow ribbons. There are wishes for visitors who visited the museum. Visitors wrote down their wishes on pieces of papers and put them on the hole where they took out a wish from. I wrote two wishes so I got the opportunity to pick two ribbons, one ribbon was written “I wish I could travel the world and explore new places” and the other “I wish my family understood me and valued my talents”. I felt very happy and honoured because my wishes will one day get the chance to be read and appreciated by other people who will come visit the museum. Another art performance are from this Brazilian artist was called the Rain Rains 2002”, “The Fall, 2009”; “The Tenant, 2010” and “One Thousand and One Possible Nights, 2008”.

On the second floor the Miami Art Museum displayed Mark Dion’s complete “South Florida Wildlife Rescue Unit”. Most of Mark Dion’s work was nature, and composed of two separate entities; living things and purely conceptual wilderness, which focuses on the Everglades. The other projects that impressed us was the mobile laboratory of the “South Florida Wildlife Rescue Unit” and the vehicle filled with lots of scientific instrument.

The Miami Art Museum uses only 2 floors to exhibit the art of those talented artists, we all enjoyed ourselves and we got the opportunity to learn to appreciate everything that we do in our lives.
